The centerpiece fondue at this year’s Fondue Fest will be created by the Culinary Club from Moraine Park Technical College. They will be creating two tasty fondues for the delight of the visitors. The first will be a cheese fondue served with bread sticks. The chocolate fondue will come with cake for dipping. Though the recipes will remain secret, both will be delicious.
The Culinary Club will be selling the fondue with all the proceeds going to support educational trips for the Club. Among the trips they will be taking, one is to Chicago, the other to Germany. In Europe the students will also visit Italy, stopping along the way to sample local cuisine. The Germany trip is an exchange with German students coming to Fond du Lac, where they will tour the city and learn about Wisconsin regional cuisine.
Come visit the Kids’ Fun-Du Zone, presented by The Garden, for great family fun. Sheboygan Street will be filled with fun kids’ activities during the Fondue Fest. Children can run through the obstacle course, try the bungee and give the slide a ride. Are you the next Ben Sheets? Try out the speed pitch and get the speed of your fastball.
Try your skill with jump ropes or Hula Hoops at the Children's Museum, or create a masterpiece with sidewalk chalk. You'll also have the opportunity to create and decorate pinwheels.
Many mascots will be roaming thru the Kid's Zone for children to visit with. Sunshine the Clown will dazzle you with balloon creations or you can visit with Browser, McGruff, Root Bear, Scoopy, Tony the Tomato, or the Fondy Cardinal.
For the more energetic, Big Brothers Big Sisters will sponsor the Big Impact 5K run, and Agnesian HealthCare will sponsor the Main to Marian Bike Ride. Unified Martial Arts will also have a Martial Arts Demo.
With games by the Fond du Lac Public Library and activities from the Children’s Museum, the Kids’ Fun-Du Zone will have kids smiling all day long.
